Micronutrient deficiency is quite prevalent in the mid hills of Tamil Nadu and it greatly influences the yield of numerous horticultural crops like chow chow. Therefore, the present investigation was carried out to study the effect of foliar application of bio stimulants viz. panchakaviya (3%), humic acid (2%), and micronutrients on yield of chow chow. The bio stimulants and micronutrients were sprayed on the vines at 15 day intervals on 60, 75, 90, 105, 120, 135 and 150th day after planting. The results revealed that the foliar application of panchakaviya (3%) recorded maximum fruit length (10.82 cm), fruit diameter (11.70 cm), number of fruits per vine (19.08), fruit weight (335 g), yield per vine (6.43 kg) and yield per hectare (26.60 t). Among the micronutrient treatments, the foliar spray of ZnSO4 0.5% + FeSO4 0.5% + Mg SO4 0.5%+ Boric acid 0.3%+Cu SO4 0.1%+Mo 0.02% recorded the highest values for number of fruits (20.18/ vine), fruit length (12.00 cm), fruit diameter (12.75 cm), fruit weight (363.50 g), yield per vine (7.27 kg) and yield per hectare (33.45 t). The interaction effects proved that the combined spray of panchakaviya (3%) and micronutrients ZnSO4 0.5% + Fe SO4 0.5% + Mg SO4 0.5%+ Boric acid 0.3%+Cu SO4 0.1%+Mo 0.02% recorded the highest values for number of fruits (21.35 /vine), fruit length (12.00 cm), fruit diameter (13.00 cm), fruit weight (367.00 g), yield per vine (7.58 kg) and yield per hectare (35.45 t). The application of panchakaviya (3%) and micronutrients on 60, 75, 90, 105, 120, 135 and 150th day after planting increased the yield and farmers were convinced with this technology for getting higher yield.

Aims: The continuous increase in human population warrants more food production. Amaranthus spp. is one of the most consumed leafy vegetables globally. A field experiment was conducted at the Teaching and Research Farm of Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekit Nigeria to assess the effects of fertilizers and bio-stimulants on the growth and performance of Amaranthus dubius. Methodology: The experiment was laid out in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replicates. The Amaranthus dubius seeds were sown under open field conditions and the treatments included aqueous moringa leaf extract (AMLE), NPK 15:15:15, poultry manure, grand humus, and super gro which were applied at 2, 4, and 6 weeks after sowing WAS. Data were collected 7 days after each application on on leaf area (cm3), plant height (cm), stem girth (cm), and total fresh biomass (g). The collected data were analysed using IRRI STAR 2.0. Results: The result revealed that all the treatments were significantly different (P>0.05) for all the parameters studied. AMLE recorded the highest value for all the parameters studied while control had the lowest values. For the total fresh biomass, AMLE recorded the highest mean value (1981.33) followed by NPK 15:15:15 (1535.00) and poultry manure (140.67) respectively while control had the least mean value (640.33). Conclusion: Amaranthus dubius was a short live plant response to AMLE and NPK 15:15:15 than the other treatment applied. It is therefore recommended that AMLE should be applied to boost the performance of Amaranthus dubius.

Chow chow is one of the major vegetable crops being cultivated under hill region of Tamil Nadu. It gives regular income upto eight months under rainfed conditions. Prevalence of micronutrient deficiency in chowchow reduce the yield and quality during past one decade and forcing many farmers switch to other crops. In order to increase the yield of chowchow, an investigation was carried out from November 2020 to June, 2021 to study the effect of soil application of micronutrients and its positive influence on plant growth and yield at Horticultural Research Station, Thandiyankudisai, Perumbarai, Dindigul district, Tamil Nadu. The micronutrients were applied two months after the planting. The results of the experiment reveals that, the micronutrients application of ZnSO4 20kg + FeSO4 20kg + MgSO4 25kg + Borax 10kg +CuSO4 2.5kg +Mo 1kg recorded the highest values for number of fruits (19.59/ vine), fruit length (11.43cm), fruit diameter (12.38cm), fruit weight (362.67g), yield per vine (7.11kg) and yield per hectare (32.90 t).
