Effects of home telemonitoring using non-invasive versus conventional approaches on patients affected by congestive heart failure: a systematic literature review and meta-analysis

Abstract: Purpose This study evaluates the effects of non-invasive home telemonitoring methods of managing congestive heart failure (CHF) patients with particular focus on complexity of intervention, patient characteristics, patient severity, and key enabling technologies (KETs) adopted. Our goal was to capture all possible aspects of previously documented outcomes and provide updated and clearer evidence on mixed effects on common themes. Methods Randomized control… Show more

“…Telemonitoring has several well-known advantages: reduced burden, time and costs for the hospital, increased quality of life and empowerment for patients [1]. Telemonitoring is particularly effective in the management of chronic diseases because it enables a timely follow-up and the detection of the earliest physiological changes leading to an acute episode [1,2]. Moreover, telemonitoring allows for a personalized management of the disease, based on biomarkers extracted from signals [2].…”

The assessment of the signal quality is a critical point in telemonitoring.…”
