Effects of high dose olmesartan medoxomil plus hydrochlorothiazide on blood pressure control in patients with grade 2 and grade 3 hypertension

Abstract: , and also produced a further reduction in SeDBP vs the lower dose. All treatments were well tolerated, with similar low proportions of patients reporting treatmentemergent adverse events in all treatment groups. In conclusion, adding HCTZ to OM 40 mg significantly improves BP reductions and target BP rates in harderto-treat patients and a clear dose-response was observed for efficacy.

“…The aim of this prespecified exploratory pooled analysis of data from two similarly designed clinical trials (Study 1: NCT00430508 11 ; Study 2: NCT00430950 12 ) was to compare the effects of OM/HCTZ combination therapy (20/ 12.5, 20/25, 40/12.5 and 40/25 mg) and OM 40 mg monotherapy on the secondary efficacy parameter of change from baseline to Week 8 in mean ambulatory BP (ABP) in patients with moderate-to-severe hypertension.…”

“…The combination of olmesartan and hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) in particular has been investigated in a number of clinical trials 611. These demonstrated that, at mean baseline BP values of 154–167 mmHg systolic and 88–103 mmHg diastolic, a combination of olmesartan 40 mg and HCTZ led to office BP reductions of 22–30 mmHg systolic and 10–22 mmHg diastolic.…”
