Effects of HAD-B1 on the proliferation of A549 cisplatin-resistant lung cancer cells

Abstract: The present study investigated the toxicity of HangAmDan-B1 (HAD-B1) on A549-Cisplatin resistant (A549CR) cells. HAD‑B1 inhibited the growth of A549CR cells in a concentration‑dependent manner; HAD‑B1 was more effective at inhibiting A549CR cell viability compared with vehicle‑treated cells. The reduction in viability may be due to S‑phase cell cycle arrest and the induction of apoptosis in HAD‑B1‑treated cells. Cell cycle protein profile analysis of HAD‑B1‑treated A549CR cells using an InnoPharmaScreen (IPS) … Show more

“…HAD-B1 is a prescription developed by adjusting the dose except for some drugs in HAD-B, and it has been found to have anti-lung-cancer effects as a mechanism to inhibit cell proliferation, induce apoptosis, and arrest the cell cycle in cell tests [ 14 , 16 ].…”

“…HangAmDan-B1 (HAD-B1) is a prescription consisting of 4 herbal medicines: Panax notoginseng (Burk) F. H. Chen, Cordyceps militaris , Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer, and Boswellia carterii Birdwood [ 14 , 15 ]. HAD-B1 has been reported to have an anti-lung-cancer effect by cell proliferation inhibition in lung cancer xenograft animal experiments using A549 cells and to have an effect of inducing apoptosis and arresting the cell cycle in A549 cisplatin/resistance cells [ 14 , 16 ].…”

“…The Daejeon University of Korean Medicine is one of them, and we have developed an herbal formula HAD-B1 to help lung cancer patients. Through previous research, HAD-B1 proved significant benefits in suppressing cancer cells' growth, reducing chemotherapy's side effects, and improving the quality of life of cancer patients by the formula itself or combined with the standard treatments [ 6 , 7 ]. This present study aims to further investigate the efficacy of HAD-B1 by evaluating acute and subchronic (4 weeks, 13 weeks) toxicological evaluation of HAD-B1 in the rat.…”

“…Recently, the extracts of HAD-B1 and HAD-B have shown treatment efficacy in lung cancer patients. 15 Through in vitro and in vivo tests, HAD-B1 doses of 100, 200, and 400 mg/kg were tested, and dose-dependent efficacy and safety test results were secured, and HAD-B1 dose was determined by calculating HED (Human equivalent dose). Doses of 972 mg (corresponding to the dose 200 mg/kg) and HAD-B1 1944 mg/day (corresponding to the dose 400 mg/kg) were derived.…”
