Effects of Glucose and Coagulant on the Structure and Properties of Regenerated Cellulose Fibers

Abstract: Regenerated cellulose fiber (RCF) is an environmentally friendly material with outstanding mechanical properties and recyclability, which has been used in a large number of applications. However, during the spinning process using ionic liquids (ILs) as solvents, the dissolved cellulose continues to degrade and even produces degradation products such as glucose, which can enter the recycled solvent and coagulation bath. The presence of glucose can seriously affect the performance of the produced RCFs and hinder… Show more

“…The morphology, orientation factor, and crystallinity were influenced by the spinning solution, coagulation bath, and stretch ratio, leading to alterations in mechanical characteristics and offering valuable guidance and references for the industrial production of novel fiber types. [170][171][172] Furthermore, by adjusting the rolling speed and flow rate, one can easily produce conventional strong fibers, hollow fibers, and even fibers with various knotted morphologies. 173 High-performance synthetic fibers exhibit impressive mechanical properties and have significant potential for impact protection applications.…”

“…Nevertheless, upon exceeding a critical strain threshold, crystallinity index, factor of orientation, and the prolonged gel fibers underwent gradual alterations, marking the point where the structure's ability to evolve smoothly began to transition. The morphology, orientation factor, and crystallinity were influenced by the spinning solution, coagulation bath, and stretch ratio, leading to alterations in mechanical characteristics and offering valuable guidance and references for the industrial production of novel fiber types 170–172 . Furthermore, by adjusting the rolling speed and flow rate, one can easily produce conventional strong fibers, hollow fibers, and even fibers with various knotted morphologies 173 .…”
