Effects of fish oil substitution by hazelnut oil on growth performance, whole‐body fatty acid composition and enzymes of intermediary metabolism of juvenile meagre ( Argyrosomus regius Asso, 1801)

Abstract: The culture of new species and the use of new ingredients in feeds are critical factors for the further development of the aquaculture industry. Optimizing the use of new ingredients in aquafeeds presupposes knowledge of their chemical composition and the effects on growth of the organisms that feed on them (Glencross et al., 2007).Meagre is the most promising new species for the Mediterranean aquaculture due to its high growth rate (2.5 kg in 24 months), good conversion efficiency (0.9 -1.2), high nutritional… Show more

“…In 2019, approximately 67% of the world's hazelnut production (750.000 tons) was provided by Turkey (RTMAF, 2020). HO has a relatively high price compared with other VOs; however, VOs should be evaluated not only economically but also ecologically, and therefore, it should be considered that all VOs may be beneficial for the aquafeed industry in coming years (Katsika et al, 2021). Therefore, HO was also chosen for this study.…”
