Mayandi Kalimuthu,
Shanmugam Dharmalingam
et al.

Abstract: In this present investigation, Sansevieria cylindrica fiber was used as a reinforcement in a natural rubber matrix. Various biocomposite samples with different fiber contents (lengths and loadings) were fabricated, using compression molding process and vulcanizing technique by maintaining the temperature around 150 oC. From the results obtained, mechanical properties: tensile strength, modulus elongation at break and tear strength of 10.44 MPa, 2.36 MPa, 627.59% and 34.99 N respectively, were obtained from the… Show more

“…The study uses bamboo fibres as reinforcement to take use of natural fibres' benefits while admitting their limitations compared to glass fibres. This technique addresses the growing interest in ecological and cost-effective composite materials (Kumar et al 2021;Neto et al 2022;Palanisamy et al 2023a). Zhang et al (2018) investigated the composite tubes as energy-absorbing substitutes for metal structures in automotive, aerospace, and transportation applications.…”

“…The impact, flexural, abrasion, and fatigue strengths act predominantly in deciding the characteristics of the material. This material is very much useful in the manufacturing of various products like panels, doors, roofs, shelters, sheeting, slabs, shuttering, post office boxes, beams, dashboards, and door panels 51 . In all areas of design and building, natural composites are used extensively on a regular basis.…”

“…Sansevieria cylindrica fibers were used in polymer matrices in hybrid combinations with other short fibers, such as coconut sheath (Bennet et al 2015), betel nut (Kumar et al 2011), jute (Kumar and Reddy 2014;Muhammad Hijas et al 2017), tamarind fruit (Reddy et al 2014). Numerous studies have also been conducted using short Sansevieria cylindrica fibers as reinforcement in natural rubber matrices (Murugesan et al 2022;Palanisamy et al 2023a).…”
