Effects of drying methods on the physicochemical and compressional characteristics of Okra powder and the release properties of its metronidazole tablet formulation

Abstract: A study has been made of the effects of sun and oven drying methods on the physicochemical characteristics and compressibility of Okra powder and the release properties of its metronidazole tablet formulation. Corn starch was used as the reference standard. The mechanical properties of the tablets were evaluated using crushing strength and friability, while the release properties were determined using the disintegration times and dissolution rates. The results obtained showed that sun-dried Okra powder had sma… Show more

“…It is also notable that gbongi starch generally exhibited the lowest Py values, whereas Efuru starch generally exhibited the highest Py values. The relative density of the powder bed at the point when the applied pressure equals zero, D 0 , is used to describe the initial rearrangement phase of densification as a result of die filling [25]. Gbongi starch generally exhibited higher degree of initial packing in the die as a result of die filling.…”
