Effects of Different Surface Native Pre-Oxides on the Hot Corrosion Properties of Nickel-Based Single Crystal Superalloys

Abstract: A study is carried out on the effect of different surface native pre-oxides on hot corrosion of single crystal nickel-based superalloy at 900 °C. The effect of different oxides formed by different superalloys through pre-oxidation on hot corrosion is verified by normal hot corrosion and tube sealing experiments. The relationship between different surface oxides and the effect of different surface oxides layer on the hot corrosion properties of alloys are studied. In summary, the stable and dense surface pre-Al… Show more

“…As the reaction proceeds, the initially formed sulfides undergo decomposition. The generated S 2− can form new sulfides along the grain boundaries or diffuse into the grain interior as a solid solution [36,37]. Both Mn and Cr elements tend to diffuse into the oxide layer, which results in the formation of a region at the oxide layer/metal interface that is enriched in Fe elements and has reduced Mn and Cr content.…”

“…The nickel-based alloys are also in the scope of collected papers. Nickel-based superalloy was investigated under pre-oxidation conditions to verify the influence of the scale formed during the hot corrosion phenomena [ 3 ]. The study [ 4 ] focuses on the corrosion behavior of nickel superalloy coated with Cr 3 C 2 -25NiCr powder through APS and HVOF at 950 °C in environments of air oxidation and molten salt.…”
