Effects of Different Natural Factors on Rheological Properties of SBS Modified Asphalt

Abstract: Typical climatic environments such as UV radiation, high temperature and strong wind in cold and arid regions have a significant effect on asphalt aging. The intent of this work is to reveal the evolution law of natural aging of SBS-modified asphalt under the complex adverse climate environment in cold and arid regions. Furthermore, the contribution rate of various environmental factors of natural aging of asphalt in cold and arid regions was analyzed. Based on rheological parameters, this paper characterized … Show more

“…SBS is well known for its ability to improve the elasticity of a binder at high temperatures and its adaptability at cold temperatures [ 11 , 13 , 21 ]. In order to increase the compatibility of guss mastic asphalt, this SBS modifier can strengthen the high-temperature performance of an asphalt mix by lowering the mixing temperature and the viscosity of high-temperature asphalt [ 1 , 20 , 22 ]. The proposed bitumen exhibits greater resilience to low-temperature cracking and also to rutting at greater temperatures than normal asphalt.…”

“…Moisture damage is one of the most common pavement ailments and can accelerate the occurrence of asphalt road damage [1][2][3]. Therefore, to ensure the service function of asphalt roads and improve the bonding properties and moisture susceptibilities of asphaltaggregate systems, modification methods with strong adhesion-promoting effects have been applied on a large scale [4][5][6][7]. Polymer-modified asphalt is widely used in asphalt pavement construction all over the world because of its good durability.…”
