Effects of different composition ratio on the dielectric relaxation and dynamic mechanical properties of poly(ω‐dodecalactam‐co‐ε‐caprolactam‐co‐propylene oxide) copolymers

Abstract: The molecular dynamics of new poly (ω‐dodecalactam‐co‐ε‐caprolactam‐co‐propylene oxide) copolymers (DL/CL/PAC) has been investigated by using dynamic mechanical thermal analysis (DMTA) and dielectric relaxation spectroscopy (DRS) measurements. The copolymers were synthesized via anionic polymerization of relevant lactams activated with carbamoyl derivatives of telechelic hydroxyl terminated polypropylene oxide with isophorone diisocyanate (PAC). The calorimetric, X‐ray diffraction, and DMTA measurements were p… Show more

“…Both of these reasons will lessen the crystal contents of the final copolymer. In higher loadings of LL content, the homogeneity of LL crystal microstructures (γ‐crystalline) may predominate the limitations of co‐crystallization occurrence and results in an increment of total crystallinity content . However, in some cases, such co‐crystallization have been reported to be negligible .…”

“…Generally, compared to X‐ray, DSC cannot distinguish the ordered and crystalline regions. However, in the measurement of crystallinity content, both techniques follow the same principles . Moreover, X‐ray diffraction technique is capable of characterizing crystal structures.…”

“…PEBA exhibits a microphase separation between the polyamide and polyether segments above the melting temperature, so that the polyether segment is crystallized at low temperatures in addition to the polyamide crystals . Mateva et al studied the physical properties of a copolymer consisting of PA‐12 and polyamide‐6 as the hard segments and poly(propylene oxide) as the soft segment. The copolymer has a single melting temperature and five relaxation processes observed from the viscoelastic and dielectric relaxation measurements.…”

“…The TPE properties are a result of the combination of the individual features of the respective blocks, hence a change of their chemical structure or their relative mass fraction, enables a modification of the macromolecule properties in the desired directions [18][19][20][21][22][23][24][25].…”
