Effects of Dietary Supplementation of Fermented Rice Bran (FRB) or Fermented Broken Rice (FBR) on Laying Performance, Egg Quality, Blood Parameter, and Cholesterol in Egg Yolk of Hy-Line Brown Laying Hens

Abstract: This experiment was aimed at investigating the effects of dietary supplementation with fermented rice bran (FRB) or fermented broken rice (FBR) on egg-laying performance, egg quality, blood parameters, and cholesterol level in egg yolk of Hy-Line Brown egg-laying hens. Altogether, 144 Hy-Line Brown egg-laying hens (32-week-old) were randomly allocated to one of 4 dietary treatment groups, with 4 replicates per treatment. Of them, 3 treatments diets were prepared by supplementing the basal diet with 0.1% probio… Show more

“…Moreover, we found that the FRB might be more effective in lowering ALDH levels at a concentration of 15% compared with the FRS. These results are in agreement with previous studies [64,65,67,70,79,[95][96][97].…”

“…Our results indicate that the FRB might be more effective in lowering serum levels of AST, ALT and ALP at a concentration of 15% and those of LDH at a concentration of 30% compared with the FRS. This is in agreement with previously published studies showing that the FRB had a positive effect on serum levels of hepatic enzymes [30,31,[64][65][66][67][68][69][70][71][72][73].…”

“…Blood profile parameters are indicators of the physiological, pathological, and nutritional status of animals. In this respect, changes in hematological variables are indicators to be used to elucidate the impact of nutritional factors, which are present in the diet fed to the birds (Kim et al, 2017). B and T lymphocytes are considered the defense mechanisms, and, together with antibodies and lymphokines, they form the immune response.…”

“…Inclusion of sold-out substrate in the feed helps to reduce the cholesterol content in the blood. A study conducted by Kim et al [57] found low concentrations of cholesterol in the group fed by fermented rice bran than in the control group for laying hens. Wang et al [58] reported that fermented food helps to inhibit the activity of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase, which reduces cholesterol biosynthesis.…”
