“…Undernutrition during the suckling period results in a variable pattern where the in vitro metabolism of some substrates (aminopyrine) is increased whereas it is decreased for others (neoprontosil) (5). Weanling rats kept on a low protein diet for 7 days have an increased glucuronyltransferase activity as mea sured by p-nitrophenol (PNP) conjugation in vitro and a decreased sulfotransferase activity with dehydroepiandrosterone as sulfate acceptor substrate (37).
