Effects of culture media conditions on production of eggs fertilized in vitro of embryos derived from ovary of high grade Hanwoo

Abstract: BackgroundThis study was investigated the effects of culture media conditions on production of eggs fertilized in vitro of embryos from ovaries of high grade Korean native cow, Hanwoo.MethodsThe IVMD 101 and IVF 100 were used for in vitro maturation of selected Hanwoo oocytes and In vitro embryo culture after in vitro fertilization, respectively. The IVMD 101 and IVD 101 were used for in vitro culture and completely free of serum.ResultsThe cleavage rates of 2-cell embryos in reference to Hanwoo oocytes were 8… Show more

“…Oocyte in vitro maturation is one of the most important steps in the in vitro production system, and it is crucial for the success of the biotechnique (Adona, Pires, Quetglas, Schwarz, & Leal, 2008;Lee, Jung, & Seo, 2016). Development rates obtained with in vitro maturation are, however, lower than those from in vivo maturation (Gilchrist, 2010).…”

“…Development rates obtained with in vitro maturation are, however, lower than those from in vivo maturation (Gilchrist, 2010). Therefore, many studies have been conducted to improve the efficiency of oocyte in vitro maturation (Adona et al, 2016;Lee et al, 2016). Several parameters, such as gaseous atmosphere, temperature, protein supplementation, growth factors and oocyte manipulation, may influence the embryo production process in vitro (Adona et al, 2008;Arat et al, 2016;Mingoti, Castro, Méo, Barretto, & Garcia, 2009).…”

“…The increasing importance of in vitro production of bovine embryos in commercial cattle breeding programs demands an improvement of embryo viability [ 1 ]. Oocytes in vitro maturation is one of the most important steps in the in vitro embryo production process, and it is crucial for the success of this process [ 2 , 3 ]. In many laboratories, almost half of collected cumulus-oocyte complexes (COCs) were discarded due to their poor quality.…”

“…Among the factors that affect the division of the presumed zygotes are the quality of the semen used [58], the culture medium [59] and the quality of the oocyte collected, which can come from donors under heat stress [60]. In this study, the highest means of CLI embryos were observed in the HH for RM and FD for TM and the lowest in HD also for TM with almost 70% less in relation to the highest (Table 2).…”
