The objective of this study is to determine optimum parameters for double dowels in medium density fiberboard components, and the maximum value of the strength of joints loaded in tension and compression bending. This study analyzes dowel diameter, clearance or interference fit value, and dowel spacing by using the orthogonal experiment method. Optimum parameters for double dowels in medium density fiberboard component structures were obtained by orthogonal experiment and verified by simulation using ANSYS finite element analysis software. Experimental and simulation-based results revealed that the optimal parameters for double dowel joints with maximum tensile strength were a dowel diameter of 10mm, an interference fit of 0,20mm, and a spacing of 64mm.The optimal parameters for double dowel joints with maximum bending strength were a dowel diameter of 10mm, an interference fit of 0,10mm and a spacing of 48mm.

Limbah zat warna dalam dunia industri diantaranya berasal zat warna tekstil, plastik, dan batik. Hasil limbah akibat zat warna tersebut dapat menyebabkan keracunan yang sangat berbahaya bagi tubuh. Limbah methylene blue menjadi salah satu hasil limbah zat warna tekstil. Arang dari sampah batang pohon menggunakan perekat PVAc berhasil dibuat menjadi karbon yang mampu mengabsorbsi limbah zat warna methylene blue. Pembuatan karbon dengan perekat PVAc menjadi hal baru yang sederhana untuk menyerap limbah zat warna serta mudah dilakukan oleh masyarakat umum tanpa menggunakan peralatan laboratorium. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menentukan pengaruh variasi waktu perendaman dan massa arang terhadap absorbsi & transmitansi dari degradasi limbah methylene blue denga konsentrasi 67 ppm. Degradasi limbah methylene blue dihasilkan dengan memberikan variabel bebas jumlah massa arang batang pohon sebanyak 3g, 6g, 9g, 12g, 15g dan 18 g dan variabel waktu perendaman selama 12 jam dan 36 jam. Degradasi methylene blue sebelum dan setelah perendaman diukur menggunakan spectrometer UV-Vis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa waktu perendaman dan jumlah karbon mempengaruhi absorbansi dan transmitansi dari limbah methylene blue. Semakin banyak jumah massa arang dan lama waktu perendaman arang, memberikan plot grafik absorbansi turun dan plot grafik transmitansi naik mendekati degradasi sempurna.

Mechanical Properties of Corner Joints Made of Honeycomb Panels with Double Arrow-Shaped Auxetic Cores

The development of both light and strong wood-derived materials is an interesting research area, particularly in terms of usability in, e.g., furniture constructions. Honeycomb panels being current industry standard are relatively thick (32 mm and 40 mm), thus their attractiveness in designing furniture is limited. In a few studies, it has been shown that honeycomb panels with paper cores are characterized by unsatisfactory mechanical properties, especially when the composite thickness is less than 20 mm. From the literature, it is also evident that mechanical properties might be improved by introducing auxetic features into the core structure. Even though it is a concept with great potential, there are a few studies dealing with honeycomb panels with auxetic cores made of paper. Furthermore, there is no research on the corner joints made from such material. For this reason, the aim of the study was to test the bending behavior of the corner adhesive joints made of honeycomb panels with double arrow-shaped auxetic cores. Within the research, the core cell was adopted based on literature and preliminary studies, paper auxetic cores were produced by the use of the designed and 3d printed device, and joints stiffness and strength were calculated analytically based on the experiment results. Evaluated corner joints stiffness, both in compression and tension test, is greater for samples made of panels with designed auxetic cores. Surprisingly, in the analyzed range of elasticity, it was statistically proved that the values of joint stiffness coefficient K did not vary significantly between compared joints pairs.
