Abstract:Three streptococcal pyrogenic exotoxins (SPEs), designated as SPE A, B, and C, have been purified and characterized. Routine purification of the SPEs includes the technique of isoelectric focusing. An earlier study showed that the removal of commercial carrier ampholytes (Ampholines) from SPE was difficult. The physicochemical properties of SPE C were previously reported; however, the SPE C preparation used in those experiments was contaminated with Ampholines. As an alternative to Ampholines, we used simple b… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
