“…The Al additions enhanced the age hardening response of the alloy markedly, which is ascribed to that Al element can change the interfacial energy between a-Mg matrix and Sn, and Al may reduce the solid solubility of Sn, thus improving the driving force for the precipitation and increasing the number of fine Mg 2 Sn precipitates. 13,16,28 The hardening response of the Mg-3Sn-1Al-2Zn alloy aging at 180uC is also shown in Fig. 3; the hardness increases with aging time and the peak hardness is up to 75 HV after about 60 h, which is relatively affected by the much Al and Zn atoms dissolved in a-Mg matrix.…”
