Effects of Adenosine Infusion on the Pig Heart During Normothermic Ischemia and Reperfusion

Abstract: Possible enhancement of myocardial protection during ischemia and reperfusion by administration of adenosine was evaluated in a pig heart model. Adenosine (100 micrograms/kg/min) was infused into the aortic root during ischemia in group AI (n = 5) and into the right atrium during reperfusion in group AR (n = 6).
