Effects of additives on ignition delay of the system, white fuming nitric acid ‐ turpentine

Abstract: The ignition delay of turpentine is not affected by the proportion of oxidizing agent added. The delay is reduced by addition to the nitric acid of oleum up to a certain concentration or by addition of catalysts in the order Fe C1 > N H ,VO > Cu C1 but is increased by dilution with petroleum.
