To assess the response of Preterm neonates to Tactile and Kinesthetic Stimulation. Methods: The study was conducted in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of a tertiary care hospital in India. Twelve stable preterm neonates were selected as per the inclusion and exclusion criteria and randomized into the intervention and control group. Seven days of tactile and kinesthetic stimulation was given three times in a day to intervention group along with the routine care, and the control group was given only the routine care. The pre and post-test assessment was done among both the groups. The weight gain and other physiobehavioural parameters were compared with the control group. Result: The preterm neonates in the intervention group gained more weight than the control group, and also there was a significant difference found in the physio-behavioural parameters between the two groups. Conclusion: Tactile and kinesthetic stimulation is a non-invasive costeffective intervention that promotes weight gain and reduces hospital stay. Hence it can be recommended to the preterm neonates in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit along with the routine care. INTRODUCTION:World Health Organization data shows preterm birth is the major cause of death among under-five children. Day by day, there is an increase in preterm delivery in all countries. Some cost-effective essential care to the neonates during birth and postnatal period can save more than three-quarters of premature newborns 1 . Over the past half-century, numerous studies have reported that premature birth is associated with a neurodevelopmental impairment that is inversely proportional to the gestational age and birth weight of the infant 2 .

Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of the Probody Massage Program on the physical characteristics, gross motor function and ROM (Range Of Motion) of children with cerebral palsy. Method : The subjects of this study were two children who have been diagnosed with first grade cerebral palsy that utilized T development support center located in B Metropolitan city for 8 weeks, twice a week, to carry out the Probody Massage Program for 30 minutes. Physiological reactions (height, weight, BMI, blood pressure (an index of inflammation), pulse rate) and large operating functions (sitting, crawling and the joints' range of motion as an angle of the shoulders' upper limb articulation) were measured pretest, after 4 weeks, and after 8 weeks.Results : The Probody Massage Program showed positive changes in physical characteristics (blood pressure, sitting, and crawling), gross motor function (upper limb shoulder movement), joint range of motion, height, body weight, metabolic activation and blood circulation of children with cerebral palsy. Conclusion : We believe making a practical impact on the growth and development, functional recovery of daily life, and improvement of quality of life of children with cerebral palsy by utilizing Probody Massage Program improves blood pressure (an index of inflammation), pulse, sitting, crawling, and the joints' range of motion as an angle of the shoulder joints' upper limb movement of children with cerebral palsy.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to identify whether hearing a recording of mother's voice affected physiological reactions, behavioral state related to sleep and weight of very low birth weight (VLBW) infants.METHODS: This was a nonequivalent control group pre-post test quasi-experimental design. The participants were 11 VLBW infants in the experimental group and 11 in the control group. In the experimental group, a recording of mother's voice was played to her infant by voice recorder four times each day for five minutes over 10 consecutive days in the incubator.RESULTS: For physiological response (heart rate, respiration rate, oxygen saturation), there were statistically significant differences between the experimental and control groups. Behavioral state during sleep was more very quiet and quiet in the experimental group. In the daily weight change, there was no significant difference between the experimental and control groups.CONCLUSION: The findings suggest that, for VLBW infants, the intervention of hearing a recording of mother's voice had some significance as a nursing intervention having a positive impact. Such interventions can help pediatric nurses to stabilize the physiological response and maintenance more very quiet sleep state and improve VLBW infants' growth.
