Music was provided for 128 out of 182 adults with cancer receiving chemotherapy or radiation therapy [54], 34 out of 60 adults with hematologic malignancy admitted for autologous SCT [55], 27 out of 48 adults with cancer undergoing radiation therapy [56], 20 out of 42 women with metastatic breast cancer [57], and 65 out of 136 adult cancer patients with pain [18]. The pooled estimate from these five trials did not find a statistically significant effect of music on depression (SMD = −0.07, 95 % CI −0.40 to 0.27, P  = 0.69).…”
