Effects of 3% Boric Acid Solution on Cutaneous Candida albicans Infection and Microecological Flora Mice

Abstract: To determine the effect of 3% boric acid solution on cutaneous infections with Candida albicans (CA) in mice and its effect on skin microflora. Female mice were divided into three groups, with 18 mice in each group. Two injection sites were randomly selected, and 0.1 mL of CA mycelium suspension was injected into the epidermis and dermis of the back of mice. Group N was treated with sterile water for injection (SWFI). We observed the clinical manifestations, fungal fluorescence microscopic examination and colo… Show more

“…The effective rate of 3% BAS was 83%, and that of SWFI was 25%, which may be caused by discrepancies in drug treatment, operation during treatment, or other factors. Compared with SWFI, 3% BAS had a therapeutic effect and was statistically significant (Liu et al, 2021 ). However, the mechanism is not entirely clear.…”

“…For assessment of colony formation, each group of the skin tissues was placed in 200 μL of double-distilled water, homogenized, and centrifugated at 6000× g at room temperature for 5 min [ 28 ]. The supernatants were collected, and adjusted with double-distilled water to 1 mL.…”

“…Denitrification is a gradual reduction of nitrate nitrogen into nitrite nitrogen, and eventually into gaseous nitrogen, thus reducing the N stock in the system [29]. The addition of nitrifying bacteria (living bacteria at 3.67 × 10 7 Cfu/mL) to water can significantly reduce the ammonia nitrogen content in water body [31]. The application of denitrifying bacteria (10 5 Cfu/mL) exhibited a good removal effect on nitrogen [32].…”
