Effects of 1‐methylcyclopropene and abscisic acid treatments on texture properties and microstructures of postharvest tangerine ( Citrus reticulata cv. Orah)

Abstract

Many cultivars of tangerines are cultivated in China a few decades ago. Orah tangerine, a recently developed cultivar of tangerine, is a specialty fruit of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, People's Republic of China. It is a hybrid of Temple orange and Dancy tangerine and belongs to the late-maturing broad-skinned citrus type. The fruit has a good flavor, and it has a balanced ratio of sweetness and acidity (Hussain et al., 2017;Lin et al., 2015). Harvested fruits have higher respiration and transpiration rates, which results in a loss of moisture and fruit freshness. These changes can affect the commercial value of citrus and cause economic losses (Chen et al., 2020;Liang et al., 2018).
