Abstract:Background: First generation tyrosine kinase inhibitor, imatinib revolutionized the treatment of chronic myeloid leukaemia, and is now the front line therapy. Imatinib provides substantial cytogenetic and molecular remission, with minimal normal hematopoiesis suppression or side effects and is now first line therapy.
