Effectiveness of Treatment of Idiopathic Scoliosis by SpineCor Dynamic Bracing with Special Physiotherapy Programme in SpineCor System

Abstract: 1. The addition of a dedicated physiotherapy programme to SpineCor dynamic bracing improves the chances of obtaining a positive outcome. 2. It is necessary to further analyse the course of the comprehensive treatment, also with regard to other types of braces and kinesiotherapy programmes.

“…Another important aim is to prevent complications such as coronal imbalance, junctional kyphosis, and revision surgery [2]. The SpineCor ® dynamic brace is a unique form of dynamic orthotic treatment [911]. Due to the lack of published reports regarding the effect of SpineCor ® treatment on the outcome of AIS surgery, the topic remains controversial.…”

“…Indications in idiopathic scoliosis are similar to other brace treatments, with curves over 25 (20 in progressive cases) degrees, due to high probability of curve progression. This is a brace therapy utilizing a curve-specific Correction Movement through the use of individually-fitted elastic bands [911]. It is made by a special medical team.…”

“…The control group (Group B) comprised 46 patients (44 girls and 2 boys), with a mean age at the time of the surgery of 15.2 ± 1.6 years (ages [11][12][13][14][15][16][17][18][19]) and the mean magnitude of the Cobb angle before surgery was 68° ± 14° (46°-101°). In this group, the most prevalent curves were double primary curves (41% of patients) and thoracic primary curves (41% of patients).…”

“…Available literature lacks information about the effect of using only the SpineCor dynamic brace on the outcome of surgical correction of scoliosis. Bracing, including dynamic brace treatment, is one of the most effective preventive treatment methods for idiopathic scoliosis [11][12][13][14][15]. However, some authors believe that a SpineCor brace is less effective compared to a Boston rigid brace, both in terms of prevent surgery and stopping the progression of the curve [16].…”

“…With regard to orthopedic treatment, there are different types of braces depending on aspects such as the material they are made of, the time of use or the body region they cover. Regarding the time of use, a distinction is made between daytime braces (20-23 h) and nighttime braces (8-10 h), which are similarly effective in the treatment of scoliosis, the only difference being that nighttime braces have less impact on the quality of life and less psychosocial impact, which in practice translates into greater adherence to and better compliance with treatment [15][16][17][18][19][20][21][22][23].…”
