“…PIC and RP have been used in several studies (Smith et al, 1997;Prevost and Wilkinson, 1999;Korkovelos et al, 2008) to analyze markers for their informativeness in genotyping, genetic diversity assessment, and discriminatory power. However, having high values of PIC and RP alone does not always indicate that an SSR marker can be efficiently used when genotyping sugarcane cultivars.…”

“…Recent reports describing flavonoid composition (Webby et al, 1994), isozyme patterns (Testolin and Ferguson, 1997), chloroplast and ribosomal DNA sequences (Chat et al, 2004;Cipriani et al, 1998;Li et al, 2002), and Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD) Kokudo et al, 2003) analyses support the exclusion of A. rufa from the section Leiocarpae. Analyses of the isozyme patterns (Testolin and Ferguson, 1997) and SSR (simple sequence repeat) molecular markers (Korkovelos et al, 2008) suggest that there is a close relationship between A. rufa and A. hemsleyana in the section Strigosae. In addition, chloroplast and ribosomal DNA sequences (Chat et al, 2004;Li et al, 2002), and RAPD analyses ) also suggest a close relationship between A. rufa and A. hemsleyana in the section Strigosae, and between A. persicina and A. zhejiangensis in the section Stellatae.…”

“…Huang et al, 2002a;Shirkot et al, 2002), SSRs (Fraser et al, 2004;W.G. Huang et al, 1998;Korkovelos et al, 2008) or SNPs (Zhou et al, 2011). Much of the early molecular marker development was primarily to investigate the molecular phylogeny of Actinidia species, which in general was consistent with the traditional morphology-based classification.…”
