“…Similar observation was found by Sharma JB et al 3 where the mean injection to delivery interval was 194 min in primipara and 412.8 min in control group. The duration of labor was markedly reduced also in the study reported by Thapa M et al 8 where the mean duration of injection to delivery interval in drotaverine group for primigravidae and multigravidae was 196.9 min and 127min respectively. Decrease in first stage of labor can be attributed to the action of drotaverine.…”

“…For comparison, in the group of primigravidae not taking the medicine, the active phase of labour lasts on average 331.6 min. In their research conducted on 50 women Thapa et al (2007) have also demonstrated a significant reduction of the duration of labour. The interval was found to be shorter in multigravidae (19 women).…”

“…Jayashree et al [13] and Sangetaa Raman Jogi [14] compared the effects of drotaverine and valethamate bromide on the length of the active phase of labor, and they found that the length of the active phase of labor to be significantly shorter in the nulliparous women receiving drotaverine hydrochloride compared to the group receiving valethamate bromide. Thapa et al [17] found no statistically significant difference between the group receiving drotaverine and the group receiving valethamate bromide together with hyoscine N-butyl bromide in terms of the length of the first stage of labor. (p = 0.72).…”
