Effectiveness of an Internet-Based Self-Guided Program to Treat Depression in a Sample of Brazilian Users: Randomized Controlled Trial

“…Since the publication of this meta-analysis, other studies have provided additional support for Deprexis. The program has been shown to be effective in other sociocultural contexts [ 17 ]; however, since January 2024, the program is no longer available in France, Spain, the United Kingdom, or Italy, which will limit its reach; it improves functioning in daily life compared with usual treatment alone in patients previously treated for major depressive episodes in hospital [ 18 ]; in Germany, a 12-week course of Deprexis treatment results in lower care costs [ 19 ].…”

While creating the programme content, it has been supported by evidence that individuals can learn on their own (Burns 2015, Wood andJohnson 2021) and that it is effective in reducing the severity of depression (González-Valero et al 2019, Gautam et al 2020, Kürümlüoğlugil and Tanrıverdi 2022, Kaplan et al 2023, interventions such as cognitive behavioural therapy approaches and positive psychology interventions that are suitable for presentation on digital platforms can be used (Cohn et al 2014, Aguilera et al 2021, Economides et al 2022, Klein et al 2023, Lopes et al 2023. Selfhelp interventions are dynamic with the delivery of online activities.…”
