Self-care may help prevent pregnancy complications and mortality by informing parents. Mobile health applications (apps) can help individuals to improve the quality of self-care. Although it has been claimed that mobile apps have various benefits, their functionalities in pregnancy self-care are still unclear. A clear understanding of current apps can help researchers, practitioners, and app developers to identify appropriate functionalities for new development and future refinement of current apps. This review endeavored to identify appropriate functions for pregnancy self-care mobile apps and user interface (UI) features. The scope of this review integrates self-care for pregnancy apps published in Google Play and Cafe Bazaar (an Iranian Android marketplace), popular Android app stores, from July to October 2019 by sing the systematic search technique. All 4196 downloaded apps were installed, and it was found that 76 of them met the inclusion criteria. This way, their features were extracted and categorized by the conventional content analysis. Three main themes and 69 subthemes in terms of apps functionalities and their UI features were extracted as follows: 1) Training materials (maternal and paternal) with 27 subthemes; 2) self-care functionalities (consultations, fetus tracking, clinical examination, supportive assistance, and reminders) with 26 subthemes; and UI features with 16 subtheme. The findings underlined the mHealth solutions for pregnancy self-care and the need for development of the apps regarding the extracted functionalities and UI features; however, controlled trials are needed. It is recommended that transparent reporting of mHealth interventions needs to be prioritized to enable effective interpretation of the extracted data.

Background The SBAR (situation, background, assessment, and recommendation) is a standardized handover tool that has been utilized in health care settings. It has positive impacts on staff communication and patient quality of care. In Jordan, few reports are available about handover tools' impacts. Purpose To evaluate the implementation of the SBAR among nurses in intensive care units (ICUs) in Jordan. Methods A pretest–posttest quasi-experimental design was used. A convenience sample of 71 ICU nurses participated. The 43-item ICU physician-nurse questionnaire was used to measure SBAR effectiveness as measured by the following subscales: general relationship and communication, teamwork and leadership, and job satisfaction. Results There was a significant improvement in posttest knowledge scores and in “general relationships and communication” and “satisfaction” scores. There was a significant improvement in both “general relationships and communication” and “satisfaction” posttest scores compared with their pretest scores (t = 16.709, 2.656; P < .001, P < .01) consecutively. Conclusions This study revealed a strong indicator to encourage the SBAR utilization among nurses in health care settings. The SBAR has a positive impact on enhancing communication between nurses and increasing their job satisfaction. Thus, the utilization of such a standardized tool that maintains and assures good communication relationships shall increase level of satisfaction. Future studies are recommended to provide further evidence on its feasibility and efficacy as compared with traditional handover tools and among different health care contexts.

Background: Situation, background, assessment and recommendation (SBAR) is a standardized strategy that is created to enhance the efficiency of communication between health care providers, enhance the state of cooperation, and increase patient satisfaction, as well as to reach satisfactory results for the patient's condition. Objectives: To evaluating nurses’ practices regarding communication strategy and investigate the correlation between the practices of nurses and their demographic factors. Methods: A research study with an descriptive design has been conducted. A non-probability sampling, purposive sample was chosen for (50) nurses working in critical care unit (CCU) in Al-Diweniya Teaching Hospital. The researcher employs a two-part instrument consisting of a demographic data form for study participation and a knowledge assessment about communication strategy form included (23) items Results: The findings the findings of this study reveal that 82% of the nurses in the sample demonstrate a moderate level of proficiency in their nursing practices. in mean (1.57). Conclusion: The current study determined that nurses have fair practices regarding communication strategy. Recommendations: The researcher suggests that nurses working in critical care unit need to attend specialized training courses.
