Effectiveness and Safety of Implant-Based Breast Reconstruction in Locally Advanced Breast Carcinoma: A Matched Case-Control Study

Abstract: Background: Immediate implant-based breast reconstruction (IBBR) is rarely performed in patients with locally advanced breast carcinoma (LABC). It has not been considered the best indication, and the literature is scarce about this subject. Patients and Methods: A retrospective matched case-control study was performed in patients with LABC submitted to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NCT). Forty-eight patients undergoing immediate IBBR were matched with 96 patients undergoing conventional mastectomy. Patients were m… Show more

“…Basic motor skills (KMD) are basic movement skills that are acquired by children and develop as they age, and form the basis for more advanced movements and specific movement patterns [2]. This is also reinforced by Nazario & Vieira [3] in concluding the results of the study that motor skills require full development in all periods in such a way that previous experience becomes the basis for experience and development in subsequent periods.…”

“…28,29 Generally, evaluating LABC, lower size tumors are submitted to BCS, 30 and intermediated tumors size needs mastectomy, which can be associated with a prosthesis for breast volume symmetry. 31 For limited skin invasion is possible to perform BCS with oncoplastic techniques. 29 Higher size tumors with extensive skin infiltration may need flaps for skin closure.…”
