Effective Surface Area Tuning of Noble Metal-Free CuBO2/rGO Nanohybrid for Efficient Hydrogen Production with “On–Off” Switching

Abstract: Noble metal-free CuBO 2 /rGO nanohybrid is synthesized and examined as a catalyst for NaBH 4 hydrolysis. Detailed characterization reveals that the hybridization generates a charge imbalance between CuBO 2 and rGO and creates an electron transport channel which facilitates H 2 generation during NaBH 4 hydrolysis. High surface roughness, consequently with high effective surface area, is obtained by varying the synthesis conditions. The high activity (specific rate activity, 2500 mL min −1 g −1 ) and low activat… Show more

“…Pristine metallic nanostructures demonstrate excellent catalytic activity toward 4-NP reduction; however they undergo irreversible agglomeration in solution during the reaction process, leading to a gradual loss in activity over time. , To mitigate this issue, an important strategy is to decorate the active catalysts on suitable supports such as polymers, graphene, CNTs, etc. This leads to a significant improvement in the stability while retaining the activity throughout the process.…”

“…Then, the H 2 generation was reactivated by adding an H 2 SO 4 solution by reason of FA reconstruction. However, there is a gradual decline in the H 2 generation rate after each “on–off” switch due to the dilution of the solution 77–79 …”

“…A gradual decline in the H 2 release rate was detected after each "on-off" control due to SF dilution upon additions of alkali and acid solutions. [57][58][59] Conclusions A simple and surfactant-free method was developed for the synthesis of the bimetallic nanomaterial M 16 Pd 1 /C via simply alloying commercial Pd/C with transition metals. High catalytic activity for direct H 2 production by sodium formate decomposition in the presence of a weak acid allows the presence of both formate and formic acid in the medium.…”
