“…In this issue of the Journal, Ghandour et al, from Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, USA, report the development of a porcine model of Forrest 1b bleeding gastric and colonic ulcers. Ulcers were created using cap-assisted endoscopic mucosal resection or endoscopic sub-mucosal dissection and bleeding was induced by intravenous heparin anticoagulation [4]. While this model may allow trainee endoscopists to develop skills in endoscopic hemostasis, further development may be needed to replicate the cicatrization and other features that are encountered in practice while intervening in patients with bleeding ulcers.…”
