Effective gauge theory and the effect of heavy quarks in Higgs boson decays

Abstract:We provide the two-loop corrections to the Higgs boson masses of the CPviolating NMSSM in the Feynman diagrammatic approach with vanishing external momentum at O(α t α s ). The adopted renormalization scheme is a mixture between DR and on-shell conditions. Additionally, the renormalization of the top/stop sector is provided both for the DR and the on-shell scheme. The calculation is performed in the gaugeless limit. We find that the two-loop corrections compared to the one-loop corrections are of the order of 5-10%, depending on the top/stop renormalization scheme. The theoretical error on the Higgs boson masses is reduced due to the inclusion of these higher order corrections.

The Higgs transverse momentum distribution at NNLL and its theoretical errors

In this letter, we present the NNLL-NNLO transverse momentum Higgs distribution arising from gluon fusion. In the regime p ⊥ m h we include the resummation of the large logs at next to next-to leading order and then match on to the α 2 s fixed order result near p ⊥ ∼ m h . By utilizing the rapidity renormalization group (RRG) we are able to smoothly match between the resummed, small p ⊥ regime and the fixed order regime. We give a detailed discussion of the scale dependence of the result including an analysis of the rapidity scale dependence. Our central value differs from previous results, in the transition region as well as the tail, by an amount which is outside the error band. This difference is due to the fact that the RRG profile allows us to smoothly turn off the resummation.

Factorization and NNLL Resummation for Higgs production with a jet veto

Using methods of effective field theory, we derive the first all-order factorization theorem for the Higgs-boson production cross section with a jet veto, imposed by means of a standard sequential recombination jet algorithm. Like in the case of small-q T resummation in Drell-Yan and Higgs production, the factorization is affected by a collinear anomaly. Our analysis provides the basis for a systematic resummation of large logarithms ln(m H /p veto T ) beyond leading-logarithmic order. Specifically, we present predictions for the resummed jet-veto cross section and efficiency at next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic order. Our results have important implications for Higgs-boson searches at the LHC, where a jet veto is required to suppress background events.
