Background and Aim: Lack of identity and a sense of attachment to housing are some of the hidden problems that enhance long-term feelings of hopelessness in the inhabitants of these environments. The mental-emotional relationship with the environment leads to the increase of the environment life quality. The purpose of this study is to be aware of mental quality of housing in the inhabitants of Zahedan independent housing and to identify the qualitative factors influencing the residents' identity in their residential environment. Materials and Method: The purpose of this study was applied in terms of purpose and survey in terms of method. The research instrument was a researcher-made questionnaire and its validity was confirmed by face validity and its reliability coefficient was 0.78 using Cronbach's alpha test. The statistical population of the study consisted of residents of some areas in Zahedan city and the sample size was 240 that were distributed and completed. Findings and Results: The hypotheses test showed that the variables such as attachment to place, satisfaction, sense of belonging, explain the semantic dimension of place identity and have a significant and positive relationship with the form quality of housing is affected by the cognitive dimensions of residents. The results showed that the mean of individuals' identity to their living space was 1 <3.17> 5 which was higher than average. The results indicate that the significance level of the test for all variables except memory is less than 5% error level. It can be said that the degree of identity of sense of attachment to place and satisfaction varies in different regions, but the degree of memory in different regions is not different. The LSD post hoc test was also applied to investigate whether identity, sense of belonging, attachment to place, and satisfaction were different in the two regions. Finally, the results showed that there was a significant difference in identity in some regions.

The renovation of public space environments in old residential areas has become the focal point in Chinese urban renewal and promotion of urban sustainable development; thus, an urgent need for research expansion is attached to identifying the environmental factors of public space and their impacts from the perspective of residents’ needs and satisfaction. Taking Hefei, China, as an example, and based on a satisfaction survey of the public space environment in old residential areas, this study discerned critical factors affecting public space satisfaction through gradient-boosting decision trees and impact-asymmetry analysis methods, after which the asymmetric relationship between public space environment factors and resident satisfaction was tested and the priority and goal of public space environment renovation were obtained. The results indicate that the following: (1) Compared with physical environment factors, current social environment factors, including uncivilized behavior, space occupation, and hygiene and cleanliness, exert a greater impact on the overall satisfaction. (2) The hypothesis that there exists a general nonlinear relationship between environmental factors and satisfaction is verified, with all social environment factors proving to be nonlinear and physical environment factors being highly related to social environment creation, such as nursing space for the old and young, reading and learning space, and display and communication space. (3) A priority hierarchy for the improvement of environmental factors should be established, which basically conforms to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory. The role of social environment renovation should be highlighted, along with the necessity to bolster community governance and public space management. At the level of the physical environment, more space should be available for the activities of residents, display and communication, and reading and learning. This study can provide a corresponding theoretical basis and planning inspiration for meeting the multiple needs of residents for public space, improving life happiness, and promoting the sustainable development of cities in the renovation of public space environments in old residential areas.

The Nature Schools movement in Iran commenced in 2014 and expanded steadily for half a decade, growing to almost 100 schools. Emulating similar educational inititives in Europe and North America, Nature Schools offered outdoor educational experiences for pre-school and primary school years, spreading across both metropolitan and regional Iran. Before the first Nature Schools were started, detailed initial planning between academics and the government Environment Department and Education Ministry was undertaken which projected the roll-out of many more Nature Schools. The results of this study demonstrated that the establishment and growth pattern of the Iranian Nature Schools had different causes stimulating its commencement, how these schools released a new pedagogical practice for teachers, children and their families and how this movement offered an alternative curriculum in nature with school children outdoors. Thus, despite the eclipse of the Nature School movement, a longer time-frame indicates positive aspects, including the establishment of green or eco-schools and the institutionalization of the environmental focus in pre-school education. Many educators saw Nature Schools benefitting students' personal learning and academic development. Political concerns after several years of growth led to some closures and slowing down of the growth of Nature Schools in 2018-19. At the same time, a new national environmental curriculum was being embedded across all age-levels of schooling in Iran.
