Effective damping of the torsional vibrations of the drive system with an elastic joint based on the forced dynamic control algorithms

Abstract: The paper aims to present the novel control structures for a drive system with an elastic connection. Two control structures based on forced dynamic control (FDC) laws are investigated. The first one is based on the state controller approach, the second one on cascade methodology. These two approaches ensure different dynamic properties of the drive system. In the first approach, called full-FDC, the ability to remove the effect of the load torque from the load speed is assured, but the shaft torque cannot be … Show more

“…The above-described construction of the connection between machines can lead to an additional component (oscillations) in the state variables. Assuming the 's' symbol as the Laplace operator, the control structure presented in Figure 1 can be described by the following system of equations [11][12][13][14][15]:…”

“…The location of the system closed-loop poles influence the characteristics of the drive, so it is a significant point during the design procedure [12,13]. In [14,15], the forced dynamic control structure is proposed. It allows to locate the system closed-loop poles in a desired position and additionally eliminate (rather in theory) the influence of the load torque on the load speed.…”

“…This control method was proposed by S. Dodds in [14]. The future modification of this strategy was discussed in [15]. In this paper, the control of the two-mass system with the additional limitation of electromagnetic and shaft torque is considered.…”

“…A number of other control techniques used to control the speed/position of a drive with elastic coupling have been presented in the literature, e.g., [17][18][19], but these methods are not widely used in industrial practice.…”
