The issues related to determining the nonsinusoidal voltage coefficients at large industrial enterprises of non-ferrous metallurgy with a high specific weight of non-linear loads containing higher harmonics voltage components require special attention. The questions concerning development of an experimental research technique of amplitude-frequency characteristics of the higher voltage harmonics in power supply systems of industrial enterprises of non-ferrous metallurgy are considered in the article. A rank analysis of the higher voltage harmonics of Noah's caste spectrum has been conducted. This analysis shows that correlation coefficients between nonsinusoidal coefficients of the Noah's share and pointer caste shares of energy consumers for non-ferrous metallurgy enterprises are 0.56 and 0.37, respectively. Further research of non-sinusoidal voltage in power supply systems of industrial enterprises is highly recommended.

In modern power systems, since most loads are inductive by nature, there is an ongoing power quality issue and researchers’ interest in improving the power factor is widespread, as inductive loads have a low power factor that depletes the system’s capacity and has an adverse effect on the voltage level. The measurement and acute analysis of voltage- and current-level waveforms is essential to tackle power quality issues. This article presents a detailed case study and analysis of real-time data measured from a frequency converter, which is used to operate the motor of a ventilation system. The output of the frequency converter is a highly distorted current wave. A hybrid Fourier transform (FT)- and wavelet transform-based solution has been proposed here to diagnose and identify the causes of motor failure in the ventilation system. The traditional FT did not give a detailed analysis of this type of signal, which is highly contaminated by noise. Therefore, first, the signal is preprocessed for data denoising using the wavelet transform. Second, the Fourier analysis is performed on the filtered signal for frequency analysis and segregation of fundamental frequency components, higher-order harmonics, and suppressed noise. The spectrum analysis reveals that the noise is generated due to the rapidly switching circuits in the frequency converter and this unfiltered signal at the output of the frequency converter causes motor failure.

This paper deals with a simulation of different power methods to detect and diagnose induction generator faults. Instantaneous partial and total power, active and reactive power, complex apparent power and transformed power from mechanic to electric nature are revisited, simulated and discussed in this paper for induction generator rotor broken bars and stator short cuts faults detection and diagnosis. Fast Fourier transform (FFT) and PQ transform algorithms are used as comparison tools. Simulation results show that, on one hand, active, reactive and complex apparent power can only be used to detect evolution of rotor faults. On the other hand, partial, total and power transferred from mechanical to electrical nature are able to detect induction generator faults evolution with the advantage of eliminating electrical distortions and influence of low quality of supplying voltage. Furthermore, the implementation of the PQ transformation offers the possibility to isolate load influence from rotor faults and stator ones.
