Effection of Lactic Acid Dissociation on Swelling-Based Short-Chain Fatty Acid Vesicles Nano-Delivery

Abstract: Functionalized small-molecule assemblies can exhibit nano-delivery properties that significantly improve the bioavailability of bioactive molecules. This study explored the self-assembly of short-chain fatty acids (FA, Cn < 8) to form novel biomimetic nanovesicles as delivery systems. Lactic acid is involved in the regulation of multiple signaling pathways in cancer metabolism, and the dissociation of lactic acid (LA) is used to regulate the delivery effect of short-chain fatty acid vesicles. The study show… Show more

“…The variation in the pH of PWM was strongly correlated with the lactic acid metabolism capacity of the dominant bacterial genera ( Figure 3 B). Lactobacillus produces large quantities of lactic acid, which has a lower dissociation constant and higher acid effect than enolic acids, such as acetic and butyric acids; therefore, an increase in lactic acid content results in a reduced pH [ 26 ]. NH 4 + -N serves as a nitrogen source for microbial growth and affects the community composition and metabolic function of the bacteria present in PM [ 27 , 28 ].…”

“…2F). We speculated that this different release behavior may be related to the stability of vesicles in different environments [35,36]. Therefore, the vesicle size was measured before and after 12 hours of immersion in PBS with 100 µM H 2 O 2 , respectively.…”
