Effect of Working Pressure on Tribological Properties of Ce-Ti/MoS2 Coatings Using Magnetron Sputter

Abstract: In preparing MoS2-based coatings by magnetron sputtering, the working pressure of the vacuum chamber directly affects the number and kinetic energy of sputtering particles, which causes a difference in coatings structure and performance. In this paper, MoS2 composite coatings with Ce and Ti binary doping were prepared by unbalanced magnetron sputtering technology, and the variation of composition, structure, and tribological properties of Ce-Ti/MoS2 coatings under different working pressures was studied. The r… Show more

“…Depending on the working conditions of the coating process, the material to be used as a target can be coated on any surface via the magnetron-sputtering process. Coatings made via the magnetron-sputtering technique are columnar and porous [34,42]. Section and surface images of the prepared thin-film catalysts under FE-SEM are shown in Figure 2.…”

“…To address this issue, scholars have discovered that doping WS 2 coatings with metal [7][8][9][10][11], non-metal elements, and compounds [12], as well as adjusting the process parameters of coating preparation, can enhance the mechanical and tribological properties of WS 2 coatings. Scharf improved the high-temperature resistance of the WS 2 coating by doping it with Ti to form a Ti-WS 2 solid lubricating coating.…”
