Abstract:Submerged arc welding (SAW) is a popular method of joining the metals. It gives greater protection to the welds from contamination from the external oxidation which is the main source for weakness of the weld. Also weld quality can be better controlled in the SAW by the control of weld speed, current, voltage and filler rod dimensions. But the weld formation on the parent metal is the key factor in generating the residual stress along with fatigue life of the joint. The proper insight of effect of weld formati… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
