Straipsnis ar jo dalys negali būti naudojami komerciniams tikslams. Deginant atliekų tūris sumažėja -65-70 %, o masė net 85-90 % (Ginés et al. 2009;Wei et al. 2011;Santos et al. 2013). Procese susidaro du pagrindiniai atliekų srautai: pavojingi -lakieji pelenai (angl. fly ash) ir nepavojingidugno pelenai ir šlakas (angl. bottom ash). Dugno pelenais ir šlaku yra įvardijamos degimo kameroje degimo proceso pabaigoje iškrentančios deginimo proceso atliekos bei nedeganti liekana, susikaupusi degimo kameros dugne. Pelenus ir šlaką taip pat gali sudaryti per grotelių kiaurymes iškrentančios dalelės bei nepavojingosios garo katilo dulkės. Dugno pelenai sudaro 85 % proceso liekanų masės (vidutiniškai 16-35 % pradinės kuro masės) (Rambaldi et al. 2010;Yang et al. 2012;Schabbach et al. 2012;Wei et al. 2011). MOKSLAS -LIETUVOS ATEITIS SCIENCE -FUTURE OF LITHUANIADeginant atliekas gauti dugno pelenai ir šlakas yra daugiakomponentė sistema, kurią sudaro išsilydžiusių produktų ir nesudegusių dalelių mišinys, taip pat medžia-gos, kurios deginimo procese išliko beveik nepakitusios (geležis, spalvotieji ir sunkieji metalai, stiklas, keramikos nuolaužos ir mažos statybinių atliekų dalelės) .Dugno pelenų ir šlako savybės labiausiai priklauso nuo deginamų atliekų srauto sudėties.

Abstract. There are many test methods to assess the level of the release of heavy metals into the environment from mineral waste materials. Leaching methods can be different depending on the leaching time periods, leaching dynamics, sample preparation method or the pH of the elution medium. In Poland, little attention is paid to the research on the relationship between the leaching of particular heavy metals from mineral wastes and changes in environmental conditions, including the pH of the environment. Tests being carried out abroad have started to pay great attention to the pH-dependent impact of the environment and the liquid being in contact with the material on the degree of leaching contaminants from wastes. The solubility of all metals depends on the value of the pH. Authors of the paper will try to prove that Polish methods of waste characterization is incomplete and inconsistent with opinions prevailing in the global literature. The procedure described in the Polish standards are insufficient to determine the actual level of leaching of heavy metals having regard to the impact of multiple external conditions on the level of leaching of heavy metals. Paper will present a directions of development of research methods in the assessment of leaching of heavy metals from mineral waste.

Abstract. Municipal solid wastes incineration (MSWI) is an important part of the waste management systems in many European countries. Incineration process generates two main by-products: fly ash (FA) and bottom ash (BA). Bottom ash is composed of a variety of oxides, heavy metals and salts. Landfilling of untreated (fresh) BA can cause soil, surface and ground water contamination problems, because atmospheric precipitation in BA formed leachate, which contains of various materials. In this study investigates the influence of natural weathering to heavy metals leaching from BA. Leaching tests of bottom ash were carried out in 6 months, leachate samples were taken at 12 times (every 2 weeks). Heavy metals (Pb, Cu) concentrations were determined by atomic adsorption of spectral analysis method. The research shown, that the highest lead and copper concentration was determinated in 2 weeks weathered bottom ash leachate, respectively was 0.613 mg l -1 and 0.068 mg l -1 . In both cases the concentration of Pb (0.010-0.052 mg l -1 ) and Cu (0.010-0.018 mg l -1 ) became almost stable after 12 weeks. Can be concluded, that short-term (3 months) natural weathering is sufficient time for stabilise MSWI bottom ash and heavy metals (Cu and Pb) leaching. After 18-24 weeks heavy metals concentrations stabilized and remained almost constant.
