Effect of water matrix on ligand-assisted adsorption of ciprofloxacin from aqueous solutions by zerovalent iron nanoparticles

Abstract: The adsorption of the antibiotic ciprofloxacin (CIP) from natural water and wastewater could be challenging due to the presence of competing compounds and elements. This study illustrates the negative influence of ionic strength, coexisting ions, and natural organic matter on the adsorption of CIP by oxalate-modified zerovalent iron nanoparticles (Fe 0 /oxalate).
