“…12 Intercostal nerve blocks have been conducted for pain control after chest trauma, flail chest, percutaneous nephrolithotomy, intercostal neuralgia, and PHN. 12,17,18 A reduction of acute pain could be achieved both peripherally and more centrally, and early inhibition of the inflammatory process could prevent neural damage. 2,19 There are a few reports about the effect of intercostal nerve blocks in patients with HZ.…”

“…The patients in Group A received 0.1 μg/kg of intravenous sufentanil for pain relief. The patients in Group B received ultrasound‐guided ICNB for pain relief . Patients in Group B were placed in the lateral decubitus position with the surgical side on top, and the block point was located at the angle of rib approximately 5 to 7 cm lateral to the midline posteriorly.…”

“…The patients in Group B received ultrasound-guided ICNB for pain relief. 4 Patients in Group B were placed in the lateral decubitus position with the surgical side on top, and the block point was located at the angle of rib approximately 5 to 7 cm lateral to the midline posteriorly. A linear array transducer (Venue40; GE Healthcare, Waukesha, WI, U.S.A.) with a frequency range of 6 to 13 MHz was placed in a longitudinal parasagittal orientation to identify the ribs and pleural line (Figure 2A).…”

“…It is also indicated for pain relief after breast surgeries, rib fractures, and chronically painful conditions such as postherpetic neuralgia [26,27]. It can provide sufficient pain surgeries is questionable [20,24].…”
