Effect of tufting on the interlaminar bonding behavior of needled composite

Abstract: The needled/stitched dual-scale interlocking structure is a new fabric structure. However, the effect of stitching on the interlaminar bonding behavior of needled composite has not been elucidated. In this work, the needled/tufted dual-scale interlocking composite was prepared, and experimental and numerical simulation of Mode I interlaminar property was carried out. The influence of stitching on the interfacial bonding behavior of needled composite was revealed. Results showed that the implantation of tufted … Show more

“…Xue L et al 17 strengthen needled fabrics by use of “n” path stitching, carried out the preparation and characterization of needled/stitched coupled fabrics and their composites, and revealed the mechanism of compression damage evolution. Recently, Zheng H et al 18 put forward of needled/tufted coupled fabric, and carried out research on the peeling property of needled/tufted composites. Needled/tufted coupled fabric is a new style fabric structure, and the influence of tufting on interlaminar shear mechanical behavior of needled composites has not been clarified, so this paper proposed to study the Mode II interlaminar shear behavior of needed/tufted interlocking composites.…”

“…This might be owing to the effective contact between the polymer chain and the bio-filler via hydrogen bonding. [26,27] Moreover, the uniform arrangement of bio-filler in the polymer is slightly changed into an agglomerated structure at higher loading (at 20 wt%).…”

“…The basis of 3D textile production relies on the placement of Z yarn technology in the thickness of fabric. While the binding warp yarns connect the weft layers in the 3D woven fabrics, 4,5 the Z yarn is inserted into the fabric layers by the needles in the 3D tufted 6,7 or stitched 8,9 fabrics. Moreover, it is possible to obtain 3D textiles by the using of knitting, 10,11 braiding 12,13 or non- woven 14,15 production technologies.…”
