“…ED prevalence in diabetic men is 28–75%, rising with patient’s age and duration of diabetes (15). In addition, reports showed that ALA, the second component of nanospheres matrix and antioxidant agent, improved flow-mediated vasodilation in prediabetics and has a role in improving ED 9 . Reduction of glutathione (natural antioxidant) levels by aging can cause relaxation of penile arteries.…”

“…ALA restores vitamin E and vitamin C levels and prevents certain kinds of cell damage in the body. ALA has shown significant improved sexual function and quality of life in both animals and human investigations 6 – 9 . Previous reports showed the potential use of ALA in the treatment of diabetic impotence through prevention of corpus cavernosum dysfunction 10 , 11 .…”

“…Schiavi et al's 1997 study (Schiavi, R. C., White, D., Mandeli, J., & Levine, 1997), one of the earliest investigations, demonstrated that TTh enhanced ejaculatory function when compared to non-Treatment (non-T) options. Additionally, two more recent studies by Mitkov et al in 2013and Brock et al in 2016(Mitkov, Aleksandrova, & Orbetzova, 2013Brock, G., 2016) found improvements in overall orgasmic function associated with TTh. However, contrasting results were observed in other studies conducted by Buvat et al in 2011 andPaduch et al in 2015, where no significant enhancements in orgasmic or ejaculatory parameters were noted with TTh in comparison to non-T treatment (Pignanelli et al, 2023).…”

“…The basic science literature has confirmed the necessity of androgens to generate adequate intracavernosal pressures and smooth muscle function to obtain an erection [59]. The literature showing the impact of testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) on erectile function is quite heterogenous (Table 1) [6061626364656667686970717273747576777879808182838485868788899091]. A subset analysis of the Olmstead County Cohort published by Gades et al [92] showed that testosterone has a statistically significant positive correlation with erectile function, even when adjusted for age.…”
