Effect of trajectory-controlled algorithm on the mechatronical performance of high-speed machining

Abstract: For high-speed machining, the position commands from the trajectory-controlled algorithm should be as smooth as possible since even a small discontinuity in position command may lead to vibrations of the mechanical structure and the servo system. A simplified mechatronic model was proposed to analyze the impact of the trajectory-controlled algorithm on the performance of high-speed machining. The effects of the control loop parameters and natural frequency of mechanical structure on the vibration were also stu… Show more

“…Kim and Chung 4 proposed a system modeling method of the feed system, established each subsystem model, and emphatically analyzed the coupling effect of the mechanical subsystem and control subsystem. Some other integrated modeling methods for feed drive systems in machine tools can be found in Ding et al, 16 Zaeh and Baudisch, 17 Yang et al, 18 and Ansoategui and Campa. 19 The multi-domain coupling characteristics of feed system are taken into account and the multi-domain integrated model were established in these articles.…”

“…1 Significant improvements in accuracy and efficiency can be realised for a complex trajectory by fully exploiting system capabilities in the feedrate planning stage. The feedrate planning problem has usually been associated with the time-optimal (or minimum-time) framework, which was originally adopted to search for the solution of the time-optimal control problem for robotic actuators.…”

“…Increasing requirements on the complexity, precision and productivity of modern products have brought about increasingly greater challenges in terms of the performance of high-speed computer numerical control (CNC) machine tools, which is mainly determined by the tool's kinematics, structural dynamics, high-speed CNC system and machining processes. 1 Significant improvements in accuracy and efficiency can be realised for a complex trajectory by fully exploiting system capabilities in the feedrate planning stage. The feedrate planning problem has usually been associated with the time-optimal (or minimum-time) framework, which was originally adopted to search for the solution of the time-optimal control problem for robotic actuators.…”

“…However, there are some other researches that have studied the traveling time using various methods. [6][7][8][9] By minimizing cutting trajectory between objects, the travel time will be minimized correspondingly.…”
