Effect of Tilt and Azimuth Angle on the Performance of PV Rooftop System

Abstract: This paper focuses on to evaluate technical performance of PV roof top system. This system totally consists of 168 polycrystalline modules in which 14 are connected in series and 12 are connected in parallel. The total capacity of the system is 50 kWp, in which each module has the rated power capacity of 305 Watt. This system is connected to three 20kW inverters and which intern is connected to grid. Tilt angle and orientation is obtained by MATLAB 7.10 and PVsyst software for each 150 change in tilt angle, th… Show more

“…High relative to Rsquared, which is close to 1, means that the PV system generates the most electrical energy. Meanwhile, Singh demonstrated the performance ratio obtained by PVsyst at Naresuan University, Thailand [5]. The performance ratio in each month is quite stable, which differs from the actual operation of this variation every month.…”

“…A system of solar tracking is an automatic control system on solar panels that detect sun motion to get optimal light intensity. To improve the performance of the solar tracking system, the angle of tilt and orientation of solar panels is set perpendicular to the direction of the sun's rays, aiming to produce an optimal amount of radiation each year (Singh et al, 2016). Solar tracker systems are classified into single-axis and dual-axis solar tracker systems.…”

“…In this sense, two differentiated energy consumption periods can be found: no harvest, and harvest periods where the latter has a considerably higher load consumption. In Thailand a 50 kWp solar photovoltaic system may generate more than 75% energy due to different array tilt angles (β) and array orientation angles (α) [13]. Meanwhile, when tilt angle is fixed, almost 20% difference of generated energy from roof-integrated solar photovoltaic system was found when different orientation angles, +2 • and −87 • , were considered in the United Kingdom [14].…”
