Effect of thermal treatment at high temperature on phase stability and transformation of Yb2O3 and Y2O3 co-doped ZrO2 ceramics

Abstract: Y2O3 doped ZrO2 (YSZ) ceramic material is used to protect alloy components worked in high-temperature. But its phase transformation between tetragonal phase and monoclinic phase occurred at 1150 °C leads to YSZ invalid. Therefore, enhancing the phase stability of YSZ is necessary for meeting the demands of the development of thermal barrier coatings (TBC). In this study, X-ray diffraction and Raman spectra were used to explore the phase stability and phase transformation of Yb2O3 and Y2O3 co-doped ZrO2 (YbYSZ)… Show more

“…However, the presence of carbon in Yb 2 O 3 .CuO@rGO was established by XPS, EDS, SEM, and TEM. Figure 2 b shows the Raman spectra, where bands at 359.3, 718, and 1060 cm −1 can be related to Yb 2 O 3 , while bands at 328 and 850 cm −1 were connected to CuO [ 57 ]. The characteristic carbon bands at 1344 and 1676 cm −1 are related to the D and G bands of rGO [ 58 ].…”

“…The existence of the tetragonal YSZ phase indicates the high stability of YSZ when exposed to high temperatures compared to other phases. 41 Fig. 3 shows that there are two phases in ZrO 2 , namely t-ZrO 2 is the phase required in the coating process and m-ZrO 2 .…”
