Effect of the Spacer Chain Length of Organic Dicarboxylic Acid on the Supramolecular Assembly of Two Ternary Zinc (II) Coordination Polymers Derived from Mixed Ligands

Abstract: Two new Zn II coordination polymers (CPs), [Zn 2 (SA) 2 (L) 2 ] n (1) and [Zn(AA)(L)] n (2) [L = 1,6-bis(benzimidazol-1-yl)hexane, H 2 SA = succinic acid, H 2 AA = adipic acid], were synthesized via hydrothermal method and characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectroscopy, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. CP 1 possesses a sql network, which is further extended into a 3D supramolecular skeleton by non-classical C-H···O hydrogen bonding interactions. CP 2

“…The PXRD patterns of 1 and 2 are completely identical before and after catalysis (Figure S3 and Figure S4). This result demonstrates that 1 and 2 may be reusable for the catalysts to reduce toxic organic dyes concentration in the industrial wastewater [54–56] …”

“…The photogenerated hole can capture one electron from the water molecule to give ⋅OH radical. These generated ⋅OH radicals could decompose the dye effectively into CO 2 , H 2 O and some other degradation products to complete the photodegradation process [55–57] . H 2 O 2 is not only an electron acceptor to promote the formation of ⋅OH radicals, but also can effectively prevent the recombination of holes and electrons [28] .…”
