Effect of the saline water irrigation on soil microbial diversity and fertility quality in the Tarim desert highway shelter forest land

Abstract: Investigations of soil microbial diversities in the Tarim desert highway shelter forest lands drip鄄irrigated with saline water with methods of Biolog鄄eco, PLFA and PCR鄄DGGE, and evaluation of the soil fertility qualities using integrated fertility index (IFI) method, were conducted in this work; the relationship between soil microbial diversity and IFI values were also revealed. The main results are below: (1) Notable differences on diversities of carbon metabolism, genetic gene and fatty acid were found among… Show more

“…Furthermore, our results indicate that the Shannon and Chao1 indices were significantly higher in HF soils compared to MF and LF soils. These findings suggest that enhancing soil fertility can provide a more nutrient-rich environment for microbes, leading to increased diversity ( Jin et al, 2014 ; Hartmann and Six, 2023 ). The difference in beta diversity was mainly between HF and LF, which indicated that microbial community was significantly different between HF and LF.…”
