The absence of ground control points (GCPs) in historical declassified intelligence satellite photography (DISP) images, as well as satellite orbit parameters, and camera interior and exterior orientation parameters, necessitated the creation of a first-order 1st polynomial equation model and a second-order 2nd polynomial equation model for orthorectification purposes. The Mosul region of northwest Iraq was used as a case study, with data from Satellite 7 released on April 15, 1999. The study achieved an RMS of approximately 2.1 x 10−8 and the error ratio was considered acceptable due to the 30-meter resolution of the satellite image.
